Yeah, Crispy is me Smiley  Good old BYOND. Haven't used it in years. It was a great learning experience, and a nice little piece of software for getting multiplayer games up and running quickly. Mayhem Intergalactic wouldn't exist without it, and without the encouragement I received from the community there to take my little prototype game further.

Hey I used to love this game on BYOND, I think if I remember rightly I sent a small donation to show some appreciation for it. Its great to see it actually went on to become this.

I've been wanting to improve the AI for a while. Unfortunately it's not a trivial thing to fix, because if it splits its forces too much then it will lose. So it needs to be smart about when it defends, and with how many ships. It is definitely possible to fix but it will take time, and right now I'm focused on getting the translations done! Maybe I'll have time to look at it later. Smiley

Atlan, thanks for sending me your translation, and apologies for not replying to it sooner. I haven't had the time to compare your version and the version in the game yet, but I will do so.

I've just now uploaded a beta of the new version to Steam, including the new languages (French, German, Spanish, and Russian). You can access it via Steam on the "betas" tab, and switch languages on the Options screen. If anyone would like to help me test the language support and doesn't have a Steam copy of the game, I can send you a Steam key or a non-Steam copy of the beta.

It's been a long time since the last patch, so I'm keen to get this one finished at last! There is a decent amount of work to do to get the localisation ready for release, unfortunately.

Hello Atlan !

Ah, you are not the only one who would enjoy a MI2... But as for huge demand, I would say that it is rather quiet over there !
Still, I might consider create my own version, with 3 new ideas :
  • There is one command center. And you can only send orders from that place : the ship living the command center carry the order to the planet that will send the ship. Hence the need of automation
  • Ships have an attack value that depends on their energy, and can change speed : the faster and further they are travelling, the less energy they have, and thus the weaker they are. They recharge the turn after arriving to a friendly planet. So you can ask your ships to behave as fast scouts or slow but powerfull armies
  • You can create starbases, by allocating a number of ships to any point of space : these ships will supply the base with energy. Ships reaching the base can refuel in the same turn, enabling much quicker (but energy consuming) travels.

In the new version, you can simply replace data/de/strings.txt and choose Deutsch in the Options, instead of having to replace data/english/strings.txt. Smiley

For sending strings.txt, I think email would be best, or you can send me a Private Message on this forum.

I will upload the full version beta within the week, so you can play it too. I just uploaded the demo first because it's easier. Smiley You have the game on Steam, right?
